A lot of LD judging Saturday, and a lot of thoughts on the resolution with that. More as time permits, but a few relevant stories to start with.
First, the Easter Island story from NPR, for a look at the loss of biodiversity and what that might mean for surviving humans.
Second, a detailed look at what resource extraction can look like in developing countries. There’s a lot of details and texture in this story; one important element is the fact that serious resource extraction requires serious investment, and for developing countries that means external (foreign) investment. Does that fact alter your case, or how you might attack an opponent’s case?
